Dirt and more dirt!

The joys of being a little boy.  Number one on our list is playing in the dirt.  Yesterday, me and the boys sat outside for hours and simply played and dug in the dirt.  Yes, I had piles of laundry sitting inside to be washed, folded, and put away and yes my kitchen was in need of a cleaning too.  And yes, my usual "to do" list was a mile long but as I sat there with my boys and watched them interact with each other in such a positive way, I felt drawn to get my camera out.  I would have never imagined that something so simple as digging in the dirt would bring all three of us so much contentment.  This is what life is really about, realizing that things you think "must" get done can actually wait and focus on what's more important.  This time with them will only last for a short while so I continue to soak it all in (even if it means getting my newly done nails a little dirty).  My love for these two just grows so much more each day and I am so grateful beyond words that God placed them in my arms.
Happy Friday everyone ~ now go get dirty :)

Vacation 2010

We did it~ our first family vacation.  I actually shouldn't say it was a vacation (more like a weekend workout).
We headed out to Kansas City to visit the boys' Aunt Jill and Uncle Andrew (Atta).  We stayed at Great Wolf Lodge and had a great time.
I would like to erase both 4 hour car rides from my memory for now, I am still recovering from them.
Since my blog isn't always about the "good" stuff, I will elaborate a little.
We left late at night hoping the boys would sleep the majority of the trip, WRONG, Parker woke up about 1.5 hour into the drive and was not at all pleased about being in his carseat, he cried and squirmed basically the remaining 2 hours, which of course woke Cason up.  Cason was tired and came up with the brilliant idea of singing his ABC's to drown out his little brother's crying.  Not to mention it was POURING rain on a 2 lane highway.  In my mind I kept thinking let's just get there asap, but when your just potty trained 2 yr. old tells you every 20 minutes he needs to pee, you must pull over in the rain to let him pee immediately (he gives you about a 1-2 min. warning)
Once we got there, we had a great time.  I honestly don't think we would have enjoyed ourselves as much if we didn't have Andrew and Jill to help out and be such wonderful hosts!  We had a weekend full of eating, shopping, and playing at the GWL waterpark.

Hiding under the clothes while we were "attempting" to shop, I quickly realized I should have unloaded the stroller!
Helping pick out a shirt for daddy!

In case you were wondering about the expression, he found a grasshopper and was trying to show us!

We took a break from shopping and ate lunch at the TRex cafe, it was a big hit with both boys!

Now on to the good stuff, GWL was so much fun, but my little 2 yr. old is fearless and insisted on going down the HUGE "adult" slides.  The first night Aaron convinced one of the lifeguards to let him hold Cason and go down one of the biggest ones.  Let's just say I almost cried I was so terrified.  It was a pitch black tube water slide that goes super fast and of course at the bottom Cason was grinning ear to ear.
P's first look at the waterpark

My camera lens was so foggy but I still love this pic of P and Jill!

Cason going down the "kiddie" slide
Aunt Jill, Uncle Atta, & C going under the water

Look at all that water!

Where we spent most of our time (the kiddie area) P loved the slides too!

Saying good bye is not easy

Good bye to summer and all the fun things that come along with it but especially our lazy days at home getting soaked outside and eating on our patio in our swim suits!
I spent the day yesterday with my boys and as we were playing outside I realized our days doing the things we love most are pretty much over.
Luckily it was hot enough for one last day playing in the water, so we decided to go out with a bang and add some bubbles.
Parker thoroughly enjoyed the bubbles ~ oh how I am going to miss these days.  Calling on all my stay at home mom friends, I am open to any suggestions for activities to do during the cold months.  These two just won't be content otherwise.

Love my handyman!

I don't know when was the last time I saw this much joy in Cason.  He has a new toy and literally "worked" on it all day Sunday.  I have to brag on our neighbors, we have some of the greatest neighbors and have become close to some of them.  There is a nice old man who's grandson outgrew this workbench so he decided to give it to Cason and Parker.
Cason loves this workbench so much he has even been taking all his tools to bed with him.
Love this little handyman to pieces!

Road Trip to Stilly!

We went to our first game of the season and had the best time tailgating with one of my best friends, Andee and her family.  I didn't even bring my camera because I knew I would chasing the boys all day long.  I am sure Andee will share some of the pictures she took.  Her son Ben is almost 2.  Cason and Parker had a blast with that little guy!
The car ride was quite nice, Cason watched a movie and little P slept.  Here is my handsome man with his corn nuts (a must for a road trip)!

Graffiti Shoes

Here is another creative idea I fell in love with and knew my boys would too!
I have been a fan of Ashley for almost a year now and have always thought "if I had a daughter" because she makes some amazing girl clothes.  On a side note, I am so thrilled she just announced she has boy tees that are available! She is super artsy and it really shows in her designs.  I just knew my boys would love to help me with this project.
So I went and purchased all the supplies and here is what we came up with.
They have been wearing the heck out of these shoes, especially my little P (he brings them to me all the time) so I will put them on his feet.  Which brings me to a tidbit about mister P, he loves wearing shoes and there has been times he has taken naps with shoes on because the battle to get them off his feet is just not worth it.  As much as it bothers me I will say he is one cute cookie when he insists on having shoes on his feet even if the rest of his body is bare :)
Click here to visit the tutorial.  I also love the glitter shoes, but I am sure my husband would kill over if I put one of our boys in glitter shoes, haha!
Here's to a great weekend~ Happy Friday!
